My dear students,
I think I have never been
in such a predicament: to write about tattoos. But at the same time I enjoy
challenges, so here I am writing about tattoos. And since I have done research,
I include the websites for you to read and get information.
It is hard to write about
the reasons behind tattoos, but in some cases I think it could be to express personal
dissatisfaction, or to find a way to look different, or maybe to belong to a
certain group.
The word tattoo came into
English from the Polynesian tatau, in
Tahitian, tatu.
When I was a
child, there was a general belief that tattoos were used by people who had been
in prison, so they had a bad reputation. But when I traveled to Russia, I saw
many people who had tattoos, and then I learned that Russians used tattoos as
ornament.
Also, I read in Wikipedia
that many prisoners in concentration camps were tattooed as a way of identifying
them in Nazi concentration camps during the Holocaust.
Anyway, I think that our
bodies should be respected and kept as they were given to us by nature. I do
not see tattoos as ornament because they will not last forever in our bodies,
and when people get old, their skins lose their vitality.
I would not like to have
tattoos in my body because I think they can be painful or dangerous in some
cases.
What do you think? I will
enjoy reading your blogs on this controversial topic.
